Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ page. Here, we answer the most common questions about our surgical procedures and specialized medspa treatments to help you feel informed and confident before your visit.

✦ Breast & Body Surgery

What is the difference between saline and silicone breast implants?

Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater and tend to require slightly smaller incisions; if they rupture, the body safely absorbs the water. Silicone implants are pre-filled with a cohesive gel that closely mimics the feel of natural breast tissue. Both options are FDA-approved and highly safe, and we will help you choose the best fit for your anatomy during your consultation.

How long is the recovery time for breast augmentation?

Most patients can return to light, non-strenuous daily activities and desk work within 5 to 7 days. However, you will need to avoid heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, and overhead movements for about 4 to 6 weeks to ensure proper healing and implant positioning.

Can a breast lift (mastopexy) be combined with breast augmentation?

Yes, this is a very common combination often referred to as an "augmentation-mastopexy." A breast lift addresses sagging skin and repositions the nipple higher, while the implant restores lost fullness and volume. Combining them allows you to achieve both lift and volume in a single surgery and recovery period.

What areas can be treated with liposuction, and how much fat can be safely removed?

Liposuction is excellent for targeting stubborn fat pockets in the abdomen, flanks ("love handles"), thighs, back, arms, and under the chin. It is important to note that liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss solution. For patient safety, the maximum amount of fat safely removed in a single outpatient session is typically around 5 liters (about 11 pounds).

What is the difference between a full abdominoplasty and a mini abdominoplasty?

  • Full Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck): Addresses the entire abdominal area. It involves an incision from hip to hip, tightens separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), removes excess skin above and below the belly button, and repositions the belly button.

  • Mini Abdominoplasty: Focuses strictly on the area below the belly button. It uses a much smaller incision, requires no repositioning of the belly button, and is ideal for patients with a small amount of loose skin in the lower abdomen.

How long do the results of an abdominoplasty last?

The results of a tummy tuck are technically permanent, as the excess skin is removed and muscles are surgically tightened. However, significant weight fluctuations or subsequent pregnancies can stretch the tissues again. Maintaining a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle will preserve your results for decades.

✦ MedSpa & Injectables

What is the difference between Botox® and dermal fillers?

While both treat signs of aging, they work completely differently:

  • Botox & Dysport: These are neurotoxins that temporarily relax the underlying muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, such as crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead furrows.

  • Dermal Fillers: These are gel-like substances (often made of hyaluronic acid) injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, plump the lips, smooth deep folds, or enhance facial contours like the cheeks and jawline.

Why should I get post-op lymphatic drainage massage after cosmetic surgery?

Post-operative lymphatic massage is highly recommended after procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, or body contouring. This specialized, gentle technique stimulates the lymphatic system to accelerate cellular healing, significantly reduce swelling and bruising, prevent fluid buildup (seromas), and smooth out any hard lumps or contour irregularities for a better final surgical result.

✦ General Clinic Questions

Will I have visible scars after cosmetic surgery?

Any surgical incision will result in a scar, but our board-certified surgical team uses advanced techniques to place incisions in natural skin creases or areas easily hidden by swimwear and undergarments (like the bikini line or under the breast fold). We also provide you with a comprehensive post-op scar care protocol to ensure they fade as much as possible over time.

Can cosmetic surgery be covered by insurance?

Generally, elective cosmetic surgeries performed solely to improve appearance are not covered by insurance. However, some procedures may qualify for coverage if they are deemed medically necessary—such as breast reconstruction after mastectomy or breast reduction to alleviate chronic physical pain. We recommend checking with your provider, and we can assist with documentation if a medical need is present.
